IPLS Spanks the Competition at Championship Week Paddleball

By Sharon D. Brown

On Tuesday, March 18, representatives from five student groups gathered in Barrack’s 3rd Floor Lounge for the paddleball contest, which was one of the many events of Championship Week. $100 from SBA was on the line for this winner-takes-all contest.

Natalie and Candice represented Intellectual Property Law Society (IPLS), Athas represented (OUTLAW), Sharon represented Prima Facie, Carla represented Women’s Law Caucus (WLC) and Liz represented National Lawyer’s Guild (NLG).

Assistant Dean of Career Planning, Melissa Lennon, supplied her paddleball judging acumen while Dean Esten stopped by to watch the “interesting” paddling techniques that the competitors devised. (Only Athas made it look good. Everyone else came up with some weird but effective paddling.)

Of course everyone initially decried their own paddleball skills and proclaimed that they would definitely lose. Then, being typical competitive law students, everyone tried frantically to win. In the end, Natalie came out on top, winning the $100 prize for IPLS.
